Independent review of the prison system in England and Wales: Call for Evidence

Overview

This call for evidence is intended to gather views from a wide range of respondents on the future of the prison system, as part of the Independent Review of the Prison System in England and Wales.

The prison system faces ongoing and future challenges that are not widely understood, shaped by pressures across capacity, safety and decency, security and rehabilitation, as well as the age, condition and configuration of the prison estate.

The Independent Review will provide a strategic, risk-based assessment of the current, emerging and future risks and opportunities facing the prison system in England and Wales.

The review welcomes responses from all those who have an interest in the area.
